Transport
Group transport to Newcastle for SoS '08 (and ‘Climate Camp') will be organised from Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth and many areas of regional Australia. Bus coaches and whole carriages on City Rail trains will be booked out for people travelling to SoS together. Car pooling will be organised from regional areas, and use of public transport from other areas is encouraged.
Groups of people will cycle to SoS from other cities and even inter-state and there may be another hitch-off! Stay tuned for more details on this years cycling and hitching missions.

Sustainable Transport
The ecological crisis is here and SoS is about creating positive solutions to this crisis. There is no time to wait to change our behaivour, we must 'be the change we want to see'. An important aspect of SoS is creating a glimpse of a sustainable, equal and creative society. This includes how we travel.
Here are some thoughts from the SoS Organising Collective on different modes of transport (in order of environmental impact).
1. Cycling, or walking
2. Hitching
3. Trains
4. Buses
5. car-pooling
6. driving yourself in a stretch-Hummer
7. flying
Below are some calculations of how many kilograms of CO2 are emitted from travelling from different locations on different forms of transport. They are just a guide. Of course, riding is emisson-free!
