High School Day at SOS '08
DATE: Monday 7th July
TIMES: Main program 9am - 5pm, dinner and activities between 5pm -7pm, all-ages Gig 7pm-9pm
PLACE: The University of Newcastle, Callaghan Campus, Hunter Building
WHAT: One day of the week long SoS program will include a stream specifically designed to appeal to and engage high school students.
The high school specific stream will be a fun, engaging and practical program designed to empower youth with the skills and knowledge to take action for sustainability in own lives, their homes, their schools and their communities.

ALL-AGES GIG: 7pm - 9pm @ The Bar on the Hill, Callaghan Campus
Bands include; 'The Fuji Collectiv'e, a youth band from Sydney and two local high-school bands - 'Men who Drip with Germs', and 'A Disppointing Fireworks Display'.
STRICTLY NO DRUGS OR ALCOHOL. Security will be in place.
The day will include forums on such issues as: 'A generation facing Climate Change: Issues, Inspiration and action', and 'theories of change'.
Workshops will cover issues and skills such as:
- media communication
- building collectives
- climate change impacts
- young people and environmental careers
- climate solutions and myths
- the nuclear industry
- human rights and environmental justice
As well as hands-on activities such as: political theatre, hip-hop, radical art, recycled paper, recycled fashion, and solar powered sound systems!
Cost: $15 (can pay on the day), covers meal and transport.
